Get Kristen's 'ELLE' Cover Look

Kristen Stewart, beauty

Kristen’s enviably effortless style is the basis of her first ELLE UK covershoot. Hairstylist Kevin Ryan and Avon’s make-up artist Jillian Dempsey tell ELLEuk.com how you can get the look too.

First up, the hair. Kevin Ryan, backstage hairstylist and the brains behind hair brand R Session, started by spritzing Kristen’s blow-dried hair with a thickening spray before rough curling sections with a medium-sized iron. “I backcombed the hair and then placed a sponge (or doughnut) at the crown and using small pins, I pinned the hair into a very messy undone sixties style.

“She has a no fuss personal style, so we tried to keep the hair from getting too precious” says Kevin.

“Create a great texture for this updo by not washing it for a couple of days and then use a dry shampoo which will give the hair lots of texture and volume. It will also help the hair stay pinned without it looking too clean and prissy” he adds.

Kevin recommends using the Pin Up Kit by R Session which has all the tools you need to create a variety of updos.

The make-up look was masterminded by Jillian Dempsey for Avon, which means we can all get-the-look without breaking the bank.

“We wanted to create a fresh look for Kristen. The skin is clean, I simply applied Ideal Shade Light Make-Up and Pressed Powder both £8, while the lips are rosy and glossy– I used Avon’s Ultra Colour Rich Mega Impact Lipstick in Really Rosy, £8. To create a structured lash look, I lined the upper lashline with Perfect Wear Liquid Eyeliner Pen in black, £6.50, and coated the lashes with Avon’s SuperShock Mascara, £8”.

“Kristen’s look is very natural which also makes it versatile. I think this is a great look to take you from day to night – just add a heavier layer of shadow or liner to create a more dramatic look”.

So there you have it, we may never get R-Patz but we can get Kristen’s cover star look.
