By Frances Kindon at Monstersandcritics: Thick eyeliner reportedly gives Kristen Stewart the confidence that she needs to work the red carpet.

The 21-year-old Twilight star wore a crimson and black Proenza Schouler gown to this year's Met Gala in New York, and topped the look off with heavy black eyeliner.
Her makeup artist, Beau Nelson, told Us Weekly that the war-paint helps the normally shy star to overcome her nerves.

'As much as Kristen isn't a makeup everyday kind of girl, she does love the end result of the getting ready process. Smoky eyes make her feel ready and confident to take on the red carpet,' she said.

'Kristen loves to always try something different and we've never done a smoky eye that stayed so close to the lashes, it was almost a little punk.'
